CLOUDCROFT Murder on Clown Alley

A contingent of the best clowns from the Ring-a-Ding Sisters, Blarney & Baylor Circus had assembled at the Lodge in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. The purpose of the meeting was to have been the announcement of the new center-ring clown for the circus. The center ring is traditionally given to one clown. The center-ring clown would have the entire center ring for his or her act and would be billed as a star attraction. As center-ring clown, fame and fortune was certain to follow.

Each clown who was a guest at the Lodge was hoping that he or she would be chosen as the center ring-clown. The owner of the circus, Phinias T. Blarney, was to have announced the name of the new center-ring clown at a banquet in the crystal Room of the Lodge on Friday night. Things did not go as planned.

On Thursday evening, Mr. Honker was found dead in his bathroom by Mr. Blarney who had gone to h8s room to accompany him down to the Lodge bar for a few drinks. Unopn knocking on his door and receiving no answer, Mr. Blarney entered the room and discovered Mr. Honker in the bathroom with his head in a trash can full of seltzer water. Mr. Blarney immediately ran to the front desk and notified the desk clerk, Ms Ima Ditzy, and had her call the police and the ambulance.

With the arrival of the Chief of Police, Buster Chops, the crime scene was secured and a murder investigation was begun.

A brief statement issued by Mr. Blarney's assistant, Ms Taffy Goodbody, said that Mr. Honker had indeed been selected as the new center-ring clown and that the entire clowning community morns the loss of a great clown. Mr. Honker had world wide recognition for his hilarious rendition of a poor soul trying to blow his nose with any nearby object including, a woman's purse, a wet dog, and most amusing of all, a watermelon.

Ms. Goodbody went on the say, "Mr Honker's real name, Edmund St. Beak, will go down in the annuals of clown history as a true innovator and a role model for every young would-be clown.

A guest list of attending clowns was made available to the criminal investigation team. The list includes some of the most famous clowns in the circus world. The following clowns were registered at the Lodge at the time of the murder.

According to Chief Chops, no motive has been determined at this time and all members of the circus party to include the owner, management personnel, and performers are suspects.
