| The story thus far | ||
On November 9, 2006, with the exception of a few disgruntled members of the Bower clan, the entire extended family of Bowers assembled at The Lodge, a magnificent resort nestled among the mountainous pines of Cloudcroft, New Mexico. It was to be a family reunion and celebration of Mr. Jedediah Bower's retirement from the corporate world and the handing over of the rains of the family business to one lucky member of the Bower family. Jedediah Bower had build an internet search engine empire call GOWAH into the most profitable internet company in the world. Jed had recently decided to pass on the corporate leadership to one of his family members. Since all the members of the board of directors were Bowers, it was naturally assumed that the new CEO/majority stock holder would be Jack Bower, the oldest of the family. As the family members gathered for dinner in Rebecca's, The Lodge's restaurant, it became apparent that Jack Bower along with his faithful right-hand man, Alphonse Katz, were missing from the head table. After waiting a short time, John Bower went to Jack's room, number 413. Upon arriving at the room John got no answer to his insistent knocking, so he went next door to Ally's room, number 415. At room 415, John noticed that the door was slightly ajar due to a towel on the floor between the door and the jam. John entered the room and found Ally Katz laying face down across the bed. His hands were tied behind his back and a plastic bag was over his head. The room was otherwise undisturbed except for normal usage. John also noticed that a piece of paper was laying on Ally's back. As soon as he saw that Ally was not moving, John immediately went to the house phone located at the end of the hall and called the front desk. The night manager, Flora Belle, answered the call and after hearing what John had found in room 415, quickly called Lodge security and had Officer Bluggon respond to the scene. About five minutes later Officer Bluggon arrived at room 415 and determined that Ally was indeed dead and secured the room. Officer Bluggon called the Cloudcroft Police and EMS departments and waited for their arrival. Police Chief Hams Zupp arrived on the scene about ten minutes after the call and took charge of the case. After viewing the crime scene, Chief Zupp scanned the note on Katz's back and discovered that s kidnapping had also taken place. l The note said that Jack Bower had been taken from his room and was being held. The note said that the family would be notified by a message which would be delivered to The Lodge sometime Friday evening. Chief Zupp immediately went to Jack Bower's room and using Bluggon's master key entered the room. The room was in total disarray. It was evident that s struggle had taken place and the intruder(s) fought with Jack before apparently subduing him. A quick scan of the room indicated that the place had also been ransacked as if the kidnappers had been looking for something. The only thing apparently missing was a lap top computer after Chief Zupp found the carrying case under the bed. Chief Zupp secured the scene and went to inform the guests about the situation. The investigation continues. |
